CARLA THE CRAFTER
This long wheelbase Volkswagen Crafter build is all about bold personality and unmistakable flair, wrapped in a head turning cherry red that radiates energy from the moment you lay eyes on it. Carla (AKA Karla) the Crafter features a clean, crisp interior with white lightweight Australian wood panelling, art deco inspired timber features and bright red cabinetry. It’s got a retro aesthetic with a modern edge.
The custom cabinetry in its retro red with cream offsets steals the show, delivering the cherry pop signature of this van while maintaining a refined, functional layout. The configuration of the cabinetry is suited to the needs of the individual clients and their travel style.
Carla features an inviting dining area, a cosy day bed as well as the lifting bed with its plush inner spring mattress. The lifting bed allows for a flexible living to sleeping space that adapts to the day’s adventure.
The van has been thoughtfully crafted with every surface, from the three-layer insulated walls to the sleek blackbutt benchtops and durable spotted gum flooring, having been selected to balance style with resilience, creating a van that’s as tough as it is striking. The brushed brass fixtures add warmth and a touch of luxe, tying the kitchen, ensuite and storage spaces together.
Beyond its looks, the van is packed with serious capability. A fully equipped electrical system with inverter, lithium batteries, solar integration, tailored display panel and smart monitoring ensures off-grid freedom, complemented by a comprehensive plumbing system.
The air conditioning, heating and ventilation keep things comfortable year-round. The Smart TV, gooseneck reading lights and directional fans in the bedding area make for an ideal relaxation zone. The kitchen is ready for real cooking and the ensuite with the removable OGO composting toilet delivers a compact but complete bathroom experience.
There is also a bespoke fabricated headliner shelf and custom-made dog seat, including anchor, for the other star of the show – Rubi Star the Miniature Dachshund.
